Shri N. B. Education Society founded its Senior college, Shri Venkatesh Mahavidyalaya, Ichalkaranji in June, 1983, to help students of the vicinity to enter into the mainstream of higher education, particularly in the stream of commerce.

The college is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur. It is a co-educational institution offering both UG and PG programmes. The college runs Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Commerce IT (Entire), Bachelor of Commerce(Business Administration) and Master of Commerce in Accountancy Programmes. The college has adopted NEP 2020 Structure as designed and deployed by the government and Shivaji University, Kolhapur. In this connection the college offers three electives for the specialization in B.Com. Course such as 1) Accountancy, 2) Business Administration and 3) Business statistics.

The B.Com. Degree Programme is offered under both aided and unaided sections. The aided section comprises three divisions each in B.Com. Part I and Part II, and two divisions in B.Com. Part III. The unaided section includes one division each of the B.Com. Degree Programme (Parts I, II, and III), along with the B.B.A., B.Com. (Information Technology), and M.Com. programmes.

Along with the basic curriculum collage offers skill-based and employability enriching short term courses. The collage has well equipped Computer Laboratory and the specious Library for the academic development of the students. Sports, Cultural and N.S.S. as well as NCC Departments are the focal points of the college.

The C.C.T.V. surveillance, Discipline Committee and the guidelines for the campus Management are the major means employed to make the campus safe and secure for the students to learn comfortably. The collage strictly observes and is abided with the guidelines of Anti-Ragging and Internal Complaint Committee. The statutory committees as per the guidelines of Shivaji University Kolhapur are formed to look into such matter judiciously.
